Automobile, Trucking and Motorcycles:

$6.5 million trial verdict for a 26 year old man who suffered a brain injury from a motorcycle crash. The verdict was against the Ohio Department of Transportation as a result of their failures to use reflective cones on interstate 7 during night road maintenance. The verdict is one of the largest in the Court of claims history. The Court of Claims is located in Columbus, Ohio.

$5 million recovery for a family that suffered two deaths after a truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into their car. The truck driver continued driving, knowing he was tired because of pressures to meet a delivery deadline. Just-in-time Delivery claims were successful against an interstate trucking company, national logistics provider and truck driver placement agency.. Falsification of the driver's log books were also a part of the family's claims.

$2.7 million jury verdict for a man injured by a speeding G.C.R.T.A. transit train.

$1.25 million wrongful death settlement for the widow of a 40 year old truck driver killed w hen a car went left of center near Interstate 90 and State Route 2 in Lorain County, crashing into his truck.

$500,000 settlement to the family of a man killed when a city owned garbage truck backed over him

$400,000 jury award for a TMJ injury suffered by a local female television news reporter. Our client was struck by a drunk driver operating a funeral home vehicle.

$325,000 settlement for pain and suffering, in addition to payment of over $200,000 in medical bills, for a graduate school student injured in an automobile crash. Initially, the insurance company for the at fault driver withheld the fact that there was excess insurance coverage in addition to its standard limits of liability.

$100,000 recovery for a business consultant who was struck from behind while attempting to turn into her driveway. $950,000 recovery against a national HMO for surgical errors by its orthopedic surgeon during a spinal laminectomy procedure. Injuries consisted of bladder and erectile injuries as well as increased stenosis to his leg. Our client was a retired carpenter from Lake County. Ohio.

$800,000 settlement against a Lorain County emergency room doctor who failed to diagnose a young girl’s fatal illness.

$770,000 medical malpractice settlement against a premier Cleveland hospital for the death of a 61 year old retired auto worker. This case resulted in the hospital adding a new life saving medical device to their intensive care departments.

$300,000 - Nursing malpractice settlement reached through mediation. Our client, a 62 year-old retiree, was recovering from neck surgery at the defendant’s rehabilitation center. The defendant, a national healthcare system, failed to provide proper care to our client resulting in a severe bed sore. The injury resulted in significant pain and medical expenses for over a year.

$175,000 - Medical malpractice settlement against a hospital for its negligence in monitoring its patient. Our 54 year-old client, was admitted into the hospital’s special seizure monitoring unit to be monitored for his seizure activity. While having a seizure, client fell out of his hospital bed and was left unattended for nearly 30 minutes. Client sustained injuries to his back and left ankle. Defendant’s medical experts claimed the fall was unavoidable and the back injuries were pre-existing conditions which were not permanent. Case settled after mediation.


Nursing Home Negligence:

$2.5 million award for an 83 year old man who died as a result of burns in a nursing home after being left unattended to smoke his pipe 

$300,000 nursing negligence award against a Cleveland hospital rehabilitative facility for injuries to a Sandusky County woman who developed a significant bed sore (pressure ulcer) during post surgery rehabilitation.


Workplace Injuries:

$1.9 Million settlement against a national railroad carrier for brain injuries suffered by a long-time railroad employee.

$925,000+ personal injury settlement for a union employee who sustained a severe fall accident caused by a defective and negligently installed safety clip. In addition, our client’s medical bills were covered by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.

$875,000 settlement of an employer intentional tort claim for a laborer killed by asphyxiation after his clothing became entangled in a moving conveyer belt while operating a machine. The company was required to overhaul their entire safety program after this ease

Over $400,000+ global recovery for a machine press operator in Cleveland, Ohio who suffered an amputation injury after a machine press inadvertently cycled. The defendant employer was a national grocery chain that tried to dispute our client’s injuries resulted from the work related accident.

Confidential Settlement - Employer intentional tort settlement for a 26 year-old machine press operator who sustained an amputation injury to his hand when a machine press accidentally cycled. The employer allowed the press machine to be operated with push buttons and a foot pedal without ever installing a selector switch. Client continues to receive his workers’ compensation benefits.


Product liability:

$5.5 million product liability award in Summit County, Ohio against an international pharmaceutical company. The company failed to disclose potentially severe adverse reactions a drug it marketed and produced worldwide. As a result, our client suffered liver failure and other permanent neurological damage. The drug was subsequently taken off the market by the FDA.

$1.2 million product liability award against a prominent drug company responsible for the wrongful death of a wife and mother.
